Take Your Seat, Morocco

Over two breathtaking expeditions in 2022 and 2023, Take Your Seat journeyed throughout the cities and countryside of Morocco with our director's chair. Curated after a total of twenty days and nights of shooting, the images we now share have been imprinted on our hearts forever.

We hope these photographs encourage you to discover for yourself the land, people, and cultures that captivated us. We can't wait to return!

Welcome to Take Your Seat, Morocco!

a shared spirituality eclipses our differing faiths.

We trust our camera to capture both the joy and reverence that embraces us."

"By the early morning light of a desert moon, we trek into the Sahara
fully trusting in Aamar and his hump-backed entourage.

As the moon bows to the sun, we become keenly aware of the rare gift
Morocco has generously shared with us."

"It's 8:38pm. We are snarled in traffic in Tangier on a Sunday night. Horns add high-pitched notes to the day's musical score. As cars and trucks idle, the 'music' reaches its crescendo.

Friendly beeps accompany long blaring bass notes. In the end, the sounds dissipate and the traffic flows. The smiles soon follow. After all, we may have been stuck in traffic, but we were stuck in Tangier."

"We stand where a Dakhla desert greets the Atlantic Ocean. An unyielding sun intent on keeping the air around us above 40°C is demonstrably successful. Sallek, our driver, stokes a charcoal fire as we return from a naive attempt to wade to Morocco's White Dune at high tide. Seeing our disappointed faces, he calmly says, 'We drink happy, sad, and angry. That is why we call it Whiskey Maroc.'

He motions for us to sit. His ritual is effortless as tea is poured, returned to the pot, and poured again. Each pour's distance from glass to pot to glass lengthens allowing the desert air and Moroccan mint to become one. We find ourselves enjoying our 'Whiskey Maroc' despite missing the shot. The tea makes us feel certain that there will be even better shots to come."
