For Ghanaians, Akwaaba is more than just a word. This is a genuine invitation into their homeland and their hearts.
In that same spirit, we now invite you to discover the vibrant soul, rich traditions, and enthusiastic warmth of the Ghanaian people and their remarkable country.

Wild Elephants in Mole National Park

"We find two wild elephants who have just taken a mud bath to stay cool. Robert, our ranger guide, quietly and cautiously approaches the far edge of the watering hole, chair in hand.
He places our chair a respectful 50 metres from them. Half an hour later, both elephants decide to investigate. They get within a trunk length before Robert’s rattling in the bushes convinces them they’ve seen enough.
As the two pachyderms amble off, they leave us with a gulp in our throats. Their majesty reminds us we are all a part of something wonderfully bigger than ourselves. We get to direct the part we play!"

"As we leave the city behind, our drive from Accra to Cape Coast reveals rugged shoreline, fishing villages, and secluded beaches. Palm trees sway in rhythm with a gentle breeze. The sea air hints at the waves and sand that await us. We take a photograph that captures our sense of anticipation. Perhaps it sparks yours?"
Our director's chair is a universal reminder that each of us can direct our actions to see the world and change it for the better.

The High Commission of Ghana in Ottawa.
The series made its global debut in our cornerstone gallery in the heart of Terminal 1 of Toronto Pearson Airport, enjoyed by over four million travellers.
Take Your Seat is led by Randy and Spencer VanDerStarren.
Together, this father-and-son team has given a chair a voice; one that speaks a universal language of unity, responsibility, and individual power that is being shared with audiences around the world.
